The Curse of Alexander Wang and "Edgy Minimalism"

I don't like Alexander Wang. Gasp!!! Sacrilegious! Blasphemy!! Ah well get over it.

I agree that when he first came out as a designer his work was different and new but now....not so much. Yes he still gets props for being the first but now it seems like 90% of the design students are trying to be him. No. I am sorry but if your stupid enough to think that this is something that will still be trending when we graduate you deserve your mediocrity. Alexander wang will always have a cult of followers but you impostors, copycats, and same'o'same'o's....naaahh. It is time for something different. The world needs balance, and the next obvious step to combat the disease of blackness and minimalism that has taken over is the rise of exuberance extravagance and outrageousness. The world needs something beautiful, happy and over the top. Yes you say there is Alexander McQueen. But is he happy? I don't think McQueen really qualifies as happy. And I'm not just talking kinda happy I'm talking so freaking excited that you cant help but dance around in little circles in your underwear while singing to Taylor Swift kinda happy. that void is growing and its begging for someone to fill it.

Until its filled the world will be overrun with sick little fashion wrecks that insist on looking like a black and white photo. Its old and expected. And personally I'm over it, no offense Mr. Wang.

That particular sense of sacred rapture men say they experience in contemplating nature-
I've never received it from nature, only from. Buildings, Skyscrapers.
I would give the greatest sunset in the world for one sight of New York's skyline.
The shapes and the thought that made them.
The sky over New York and the will of man made visible.
What other religion do we need?
And then people tell me about pilgrimages to some dank pest-hole in a jungle
where they go to do homage to a crumbling temple,
to a leering stone monster with a pot belly, created by some leprous savage.
Is it beauty and genius they want to see?
Do they seek a sense of the sublime?
Let them come to New York,
stand on the shore of the Hudson, look and kneel.
When I see the city from my window -
no, I don't feel how small I am - but I feel that if a war came to threaten this,
I would like to throw myself into space, over the city, and protect these buildings with my body.
~Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead.

Heart Shaped Glasses

Marla's heart looked the way my face was.
The crap and the trash of the world.
Post-consumer human butt wipe
that no one would ever go to the trouble to recycle.
~ Chuck Palahniuk

Don't break
Don't break my heart
And I won't break your heart-shaped glasses
Little girl, little girl
You should close your eyes
That blue is getting me high
